Alexander Craig Aitken (1,000 decimal places)

Alexander Craig Aitken Jr. (1895 - 1967), one of the great mental calculators, recited Pi to 707 decimal places from memory in the 1920's. Unfortunately only 527 digits were calculated correctly by that time. He later re-memorized the first 1,000 digits correctly.
